Beat the cold with a sunny new perfume
Jul 06, 2018

A time of rejuvenation and reinvention, spring offers the perfect opportunity to update your scent, and while the idea of putting on a sundress might seem premature right now, a fresh-smelling fragrance can surely be welcomed with open arms.

As we pack away our chunky knits and winter boots it’s finally time to slip into something a little lighter, and luckily there’s a steady stream of perfumes perfectly suited to spring hitting the shelves of beauty aisles right now. Here are our favourite launches for the new season.

Jo Malone Oat & Cornflower, £47, Jo Malone

Luxury perfumer Jo Malone has launched a harvest of five limited-edition fragrances for spring and our pick goes to Oat & Cornflower. A woody, musk-filled scent that’s warm and sensual, it contains notes of hazelnut, sweet tobacco, earthy vetiver and vivid blue cornflower.

If you do prefer something a little lighter though, Primrose & Rye has a powdery finish, while those looking for sweeter scents will enjoy Honey & Crocus or Poppy & Barley.

Chloé Nomade, £42.30, John Lewis

A scent that embraces the spirit of femininity, Chloé’s Nomade is a woody fragrance with fresh, floral notes. Designed with an intense character, it flourishes with a whiff of oak moss that is lightened by the sweetness of cherry plum and the freshness of freesia. The perfect choice for those who like floral fragrances that aren’t too sweet.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Twinkle, £55, Superdrug

The latest iteration of Marc Jacob’s Daisy range, Twinkle is a bright and playful fragrance that evokes the true scent of spring. Inspired by a shimmering oasis where the sun dazzles and water glistens, it’s made from an uplifting bouquet of floral and fruity notes including wild berries, violet leaves and creamy, white woods. The dreamy lilac bottle finished with glitter blooms promises to make a welcome addition to any dressing table.

Mugler Alien Flora Futura, £42, The Perfume Shop

A must-have for fans of the supernatural, Mugler’s newest variation of the infamous scent strikes the perfect balance between sultry and feminine. Fresh and sparkling, it features light notes of Buddha’s hand citrus, sweet and floral notes from queen-of-the-night flower and white amber to create a whiff that smells like an enveloping combination of creamy vanilla and springtime blooms.

Proenza Schouler Arizona, £68, Selfridge

The first fragrance from the designers behind Proenza Schouler – Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez – Arizona is a musky scent with flecks of white floral.

Inspired by the vast desert landscapes, colourful sands and sunsets they saw while on their travels to Mexico, the US South-west and Arizona, it contains notes of orris, cactus blossom, jasmine, orange blossom, solar accord, musk and cashmeran. If you’re a fan of unique scents no one else will be wearing, this is the one for you.
